Sometimes life is out of sync and happiness seems unattainable. It is my mission to help you chart your path to growth, work out your motivation to walk that path, and ultimately find your stride.
The ultimate goal is to help you feel empowered to improve your quality of life, capable of maintaining that momentum, and able to achieve your personal and professional goals. You deserve happiness and fulfillment.
I use a client focused, trauma-informed approach. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, addressing both the mind and body.
I get along great with teens and families, young adults, adults, and seniors. Common challenges we address are depression, anxiety, resilience, life challenges, trauma, defiance, life skills, substance-abuse, addiction, boundary setting, parenting, adjustment, family dynamics, and self-worth.
Sometimes clients find it difficult to sit still during therapy but still desire the accountability of in-person sessions. I have found that walking together (outdoors, weather-permitting) can reduce anxiety or agitation and facilitate openness. It is something I enjoy integrating into sessions when appropriate. Let me know if that interests you.
Hi, I'm Josh. I am married with five awesome kids who also challenge me every day. It was exciting growing up in many places in and out of the country as a military kid, but my wife convinced me that Utah was the final destination. After graduating from Brigham Young University in Construction Management and working in that field for ten years, life happened and I found a new path in the field of mental health. Some of my other passions are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, hiking, yard work, and car talk. But mostly BJJ.
I've had the opportunity to work with youth and adults from a wide variety of backgrounds, including youth in the Juvenile Justice System and their families, adults with special needs, individuals struggling with illness and/or addiction, and people who appear to have it all. I have been amazed and humbled by incredible clients who inspire me despite the challenges they face. It is the best feeling to see someone who was once stumbling find their stride and take on life with new purpose.
Motivational Interviewing is all about helping the client figure out where they are, where they want to be, and how they're going to get there. Collaboration with the client is vital work to develop a plan to navigate each step, ultimately leading to growth and fulfillment.
CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in more effectively. It is good in treating mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, oppositional defiance disorder, and conduct disorder. It is a dynamic method used in conjunction with other modalities.
Structural family therapy focuses on the interactions of family members, how they communicate, and the types of structures governing the family system. I work with families to identify boundaries, develop healthy expectations, and foster productive communication and interactions in an effort to cultivate a stronger sense of cohesion and support.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions. This is accomplished by using guided rapid eye movement techniques to reprogram memories and how we react to them. Helpful for those experiencing post-traumatic Stress (PTSD), depression, grief, phobias, anxiety, and addiction
